Assisted suicide or euthanasia is the practice of a merciful killing a person in a painless or minimally painful way, usually to end suffering - especially in the case of a painful terminal diease.

Position: Legalize assisted suicide.

Under certain, carefully monitored circumstances, it shoudl be legal for physicians to assist critically ill individuals who have a firm will to end their lives.

Position: Keep the status quo.

The need for assisted suicide (that is to say a case where an individual wished to die and is not physically capable of fulfilling this wish) is pretty rare and the existing barriers to helping someone in this condition (possibility of jail) is just the kind of red flag people need to not take this path casually.
