This is the next level of detail below All Platform Planks. All platform proposals should be listed here with mention of any bad page names or pages that contain proposals embedded or mentioned in them:
Add underlying policy terms to the list of policy terms and be careful to separate generic definition from the specific proposal at least in the proposal itself.
The worst naming problems are in transport. Please review and refactor these transport issues:
Are proposals re: a specific proper-named institution to be named for the entity they reform ? If so
Alternatively, rename the latter two "Upgrade Coast Guard" and "Promote UN Earth Charter" and go to "Reform Senate". Either proposals to sign a treaty or support an agency are named for that agency or treaty, consistently, or they are a summary title that reflects support or attitude towards it. An advantage of this is that "No Star Wars" is clearer as a title than "Star Wars".
NOT ONE CURRENT PLATFORM PROPOSAL HAS A GREAT NAME! THERE IS NOT ONE MEMORABLE TITLE HERE AT ALL! SOME ARE GOOD NAMES FOR FEDERAL ACTS BUT ALL WOULD BE BORING.
Add underlying policy terms to the list of policy terms and be careful to separate generic definition from the specific proposal at least in the proposal itself.
bad names
The worst naming problems are in transport. Please review and refactor these transport issues:
- Intra City Transport
- Integrated Transportation policy - REDUNDANT word "policy" - is this
- Improve Urban and rural planning - inconsistent use of capitals - is this a generic objective (lowercase) or the name of a potential act?
- mass transit is presently an IPA not a policy term nor a platform proposal - fix this.
overly generic or obviously wrong names for proposals
- Water - obviously, this plank name is not adequate: oceans are water, bodies are water, rivers are water, water moves through storm sewers, ground water wells, is affected by factory farms, surely this one page is not about ALL this; a breakdown is required into something like
- municipal waste management - MISSPELLED
- Labour and Energy - this is a policy AREA not a name
- Childcare should be generic, Helping Parents Cope is the proposal itself
- Consumerism - potential bad overload with consumerism which is a generic concept - give this a name like "Getting a Living" which is already used in the text
- Population - another word that is dangerously overloaded - do we dare talk about population without talking about consumption in the same policy? - this is an IPA or "talk page" not a policy
- Alternative Health Care - yes it is exists - what is the Green phrase for this?
- mass transit as noted above - stealing a pure policy term
overloaded policies to refactor
- Economic Philosophy is too long because it includes several, e.g.
- Capital Cost Allowance
- Stable Fossil Fuel Price
- others relevant to green tax shift, food security and energy security
decision required
Are proposals re: a specific proper-named institution to be named for the entity they reform ? If so
- Senate Reform - so specific to Canada that the overload causes no danger - "senate reform" means nothing globally as there is no global "Senate" - but for consistency with what follows Canadian Senate would be by far the better title:
- Coast Guard
- UN Earth Charter - or rather, the endorsement thereof - this name confusing what the charter IS and what the policy is
Alternatively, rename the latter two "Upgrade Coast Guard" and "Promote UN Earth Charter" and go to "Reform Senate". Either proposals to sign a treaty or support an agency are named for that agency or treaty, consistently, or they are a summary title that reflects support or attitude towards it. An advantage of this is that "No Star Wars" is clearer as a title than "Star Wars".
- Basic Income - there are many definitions of this going back through the ages, does this have no more specific name? If the proposal is so dead only Greens now advance it and can thus redefine it, what does that say for its political viability?
- Financial Industry - is this really an "industry"? Or a bunch of institutions that con the public? Is this really about regulation of that industry? Or is it about abolishing it to let everything honestly become a sort of gambling instrument and let the buyer beware? And what about insurance, isn't it included? There are important scope decisions to make here that must be reflected in the name. Consider "Reform Financial Industries" as a good plank name.
almost properly named
- Helping Parents Cope - though "Help" would be better"
- Promotion of Healthy Living - though "Promote" would be better"
