In 2003 221,352 people immigrated to Canada. This level of immigration has remained relatively stable for the last ten years. Canada's immigration system includes three classes of immigrants:
  • Family Class - 30% - relatives of previous immigrants.
  • Economic Immigrants - 60% - Skilled workers and Entrepreneurs.
  • Refugees - 10% - people escaping political repression, or social strife.
