Competition exists bewteen
  • sellers (and sometime buyers) in a free market economy
  • candidates and poltiical parties and ideas in a democracy
  • lawyers in an adversarial justice system.
  • animals and species by the law of nature.

In the economic sense governments often have a competition policy which tends to regulate situations where there may be too much or too little competion in a given market.

Competition is an essential part of life although many, if not most people prefer cooperation to competition in attaining quality of life.
