US Federal Reserve

The US Federal Reserve is the central bank that regulates the US dollar especially to control its inflation rate. It has other responsibilities which some economists think are ignored. There are many criticisms of the Fed.

From a Canadian point of view, US inflation will necessarily alter the status of the Canadian dollar to which it is linked by the most extensive trading relationship in the world. It is not thought possible to achieve monetary reform in Canada without at least some means of controlling or limiting interaction with the Fed policy, as Canada's currency shifts by reaction.
