Michael Brown

Former US FEMA Head Michael Brown, who had succeeded Joe Allbaugh as head of that agency, now part of US Homeland Security, resigned on September 12, 2005.

This was after a demotion back to Washington a few days earlier intended to answer demands that the Bush administration fire Michael Brown for incompetence.

Brown claimed that he resigned simply in order to move the focus off his own performance and back onto the problem.
