ISO 14000

ISO 14000 is a series of ISO standards applying to environmental risk management. Along with ISO 9000 it is the basis of the ISO 19011 audit standard. Platform 2004 proposed adoption of 14000 series be one of several criteria applied in environmental regulation, as it is in some states of the United States and every country in Europe.

Despite its uncontroversial status, it was surprisingly controversial with even some longtime Greens - some of whose critique focused on it. Accordingly Platform 2005 Process will make elaborating the rationale and role of ISO 14000 a relatively early concern and Platform 2005 quality testings will focus on this along with other anticipated Platform 2005 issues.

Also, interest group briefings may address concerns various groups have with the ISO series of standards and their role as part of industrial strategy and management best practices regime.
