Commenting

(.i.e., how to make comments — not the place to make comments on policy.)

You can use the comment feature to make suggestions, show support, or discuss ideas. (For in-depth discussion, you may also wish to join the Platform 2005 Listserves). Users are expected to respect the Terms of Use when using the commenting feature.

Adding a comment

First, find the page where you would like to add your comment. (For help navigating the Living Platform site, please refer to get started). If you have a username and password, it's best to log in before commenting — this will allow Tiki Wiki to display your name beside your comment, which makes debates easier to understand. If you are not logged in, your comment will be attributed to "anonymous".

There are two ways to add a comment. The first is to use the Post New Comment feature at the bottom of any page. Simply type your comment, add a title, and click on 'preview'. If the preview is satisfactory, click on
'post' to save your comment.

The second way to add a comment is to click on the "reply to this" link beside an existing comment. (This is the preferred way to continue a discussion that refers to previous comments). A new page will appear showing a Post New Comment form, along with the comment to which you are replying. Type your comment, add a title, and click on 'preview'. If the preview is satisfactory, click on 'post' to save your comment.

Hints and tips

  • Use the commenting feature to discuss potential changes to a page before editing.
  • Tiki Wiki formatting symbols don't work inside comments. Use punctuation to make your point as clear as possible.
  • When commenting on policy, make sure your comment is on the appropriate page. If you aren't sure where is best, try using the Search feature to find the most closely-related page.
