groups or activities

roles
ImageRole This page describes a role within a group, as developed by contributors at this web service based on public sources. Role descriptions are not just as officially defined but also as they have developed in practice. Factual biographical information about the way officer?s or spokeperson?s have described the role, or its de facto? status, should be reported based on cited sources. Criticism of the role should only occur if multiple persons in that role have abused it similarly. Powerful roles with a great deal of power, e.g. Prime Minister of Canada, Canadian Minister of Finance?, may be generally criticized with less need for attribution, if the criticism is widespread and quite easy to verify, e.g. by asking people on the street.

Profiles contain only factual biographical information about a group or its officer?s or spokeperson?s quoted or honestly paraphrased from other cited sources. trollish

Image trollish pages use trollish verbs, and may have rhetoric or structure seemingly only perceivable by trolls. While such pages have proven suprisingly useful in developing the rhetoric of open politics itself, it is damn hard to say exactly how or which ones are going to end up proving relevant in the development of the supposed trollish language. NOTE: a troll objective is to replace English as an exercise in open politics itself, a goal which they claim requires these verbs.

major editorial problems

Major problems are defined as those which tend to result in pages being hidden?, ignored or deleted.

bad page name

ImageAn editor advises that this is a bad page name. See naming conventions for information on how the content can be moved to a more suitablly named page and the badly named redundant page then deleted. For more information, contact a senior editor.

out of scope

Imageout of scope: An editor advises that this matter is out of scope. The scope of this page may need to be drastically restricted or changed to relate more clearly to other subject matter. If it is still of questionable relevance to any public policy or political issue after links to all issues have been added, the page may then be ignored. A third party not involved should remove this notice when they are satisfied the matter is within scope.

inappropriate subject
Imageinappropriate subject
An editor finds that the subject matter of this page is specifically disallowed by the terms of use and is not required to support any existing page that is so allowed.

not Canadian enough

Imagenot Canadian enough: An editor advises that the subject matter of this page is not relevant to the jurisdictions supported by openpolitics.ca. Matters external to politics (e.g. religion) or internal to organizations (that are not engaged in politics itself, or otherwise isn't news) are not supported by this service, though we welcome inquires for establishing a local wiki. See also: terms of use.

out of order

ImageAn editor advises that this page has been created out of order: some guidelines apply to creating pages of this nature that have not been followed, and until they are followed, the page should not exist. A third party not involved should remove this notice when they are satisfied the matter is within scope.

redundant page
ImageAn editor advises that this article duplicates one or more others being developed - as noted below. Please help us avoid duplication by refactoring this content to the page(s) noted below. See redundant page for detailed instructions.

imbalance

ImageAn editor advises that this page contributes to an editorial balance problem. They are too many pages on related matters and not enough on others that deserve more coverage. A third party not involved should remove this notice when they are satisfied the matter is absolutely necessary to cover, and perhaps after hiding or ignoring out of date? pages.

Attributes of page content

minor editorial problems

Minor problems are defined as those which tend to result in pages being edited and then being left alone.

needs reorganization

Imageneeds reorganization ''An editor has nominated this article to be so reworked. Pages about public policy issues are best placed in multiple point of view form such as IPA so that each point of view can be recognized and expanded.
''.

confusing

Imageconfusing An editor finds this page rather confusing. We don't know what you are saying but we absolutely defend your right to say it. Please refer to the guidelines on how to refactor the page: to cut scope to something reasonable or divide it into multiple pages that cover separate issues.

troll warning

Imagetroll warning Due to the nature of this page, it is more than ordinarily sensitive to small shifts in its content. Persons of unknown bias?, tendency, loyalty, faction, beliefs, intent and qualifications, that is, trolls, anonymous and otherwise, have changed this page. While most such changes are benign and useful, it is not certain that at the moment it continues to reflect the original intent or portray the point of view the title implies. Be sure not to quote from it as a journalist? unless and until any real persons implied or named in the title have been contacted to review its content. When they do, this notice will be removed.

bias/ rhetoric / fiction / spin

Imagebias / rhetoric/ fiction/ spin ''An editor finds that this page contains a lot of editorial bias: what they consider to be rhetoric, spin, or fiction?. Suggested remedies are to:
  • carefully separate documentation of the fictional material from positions on issues obviously relevant to real life decision making
  • link this page to an existing IPA on this issue, to avoid mixing positions with rhetoric
  • if no IPA exists for this issue, refactor the page to IPA format - and separate the issue from the position.
  • a balanced debate is more informative than a one-sided diatribe: cite their experts or play devil's advocate against your own positions.''

parallel page

ImageAn editor advises that there is a parallel page with a different point of view as noted below. Please be sure to keep statements on the appropriate page/s.

Point of view problems

These are very common editorial problems that arise for reasons other than an inattention to process.

incomplete or obsolete or out of date?

Image incomplete or out of date An editor advises that this page is misleading because it is incomplete or contains facts that were true as of date written but not updated recently enough to avoid giving wrong impressions. Or, the page lacks enough details to give a complete account of the subject at hand that a neutral observer would be interested in reading. Or, it describes something obsolete or since replaced that should be made instead into an historical account.

lacks neutrality

Imagelacks neutrality An editor advises that this article may require editing to achieve a neutral point of view. Please cite links from alternate sources to ensure it is fair and balanced.

troll xing

Imagetroll xing trolls are constantly crossing and contradicting each other's point of view on this page. This may be because the subject matter is inherently controversial or because there is a particular conflict in which there is some hard or irreconcilable positioning. The page is probably heading to a state where there is rhetoric and counter-rhetoric instead of position and counter-position. Advisable to re-organize to IPA if possible, refactor if not, and be wary of statements from idiosyncratic or extreme point of view.

need more sources

Imageneed more sources An editor finds that this page may require more editing to achieve a balanced perspective. Open politics encourages editors to be inclusive of other perspectives. Cite alternate sources and points of view to ensure the page is fair and balanced.

too reflexive

Image too reflexive An editor finds that this page seems to be so reflexive or full of self-reference?s to politics itself, open politics itself, Living Platform itself, openpolitics.ca itself, Living Ontology Web, living ontology, open politics web or open politics argument that it fails to clarify these things to senior editors. While novices can't be expected to understand or care about these things, to refactor so things are accessible to those enforcing senior editor guidelines is fair.
