David Orchard was a prominent member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada before that party's dissolution.

He was a strong opponent of that dissolution, having run second to Joe Clark? in a leadership race in 1998, and made a deal with Peter MacKay that included assurances that there would be no merger with the Canadian Alliance. MacKay reversed himself and conducted the deal to form the Conservative Party of Canada, a move which was approved by 90% of the old PC members, but this included many new memberships sold to Alliance members.

Orchard presently runs his Campaign for Canada at davidorchard.comexternal link and vivelecanada.caexternal link.
